A permanent exposition of Dimiter Kirov – Dikiro will open on May 20, 2010, from 6 pm, in the Stamboulian House, the Old Town, Plovdiv. Students from the national school of fine arts will display works devoted to Dimiter Kirov in the court yard of the house. The events and the permanent exposition are meant to commemorate the late master, and are devoted to his seventy-fifth anniversary.

The following speakers are expected to take part in the celebration: Slavcho Atanassov, Mayor of Plovdiv; Ivaylo Mirchev, Chair of the Bulgarian Artists’ Union; Margarita Djerova, Head, Tsanko Lavrenov National Arts School, Plovdiv; and Roussalia Kirova, a ballet pedagogist, wife and muse of DiKiro. Svetla Moskova from the Plovdiv City Art Gallery will chair the events.

Kirova’s book “The tree of life” will be presented by Vanya Mincheva, literature critic. The book is a first-hand account of the love, meetings with international and Bulgarian artists, the bohemian days and nights of one of the most-emblematic artistic families in Bulgaria.

A violin performance by Dimo Gashnov will mark the opening of the expositions.

“I am proud and happy with the opening of a permanent exhibition of DiKiro in Plovdiv’s Old Town – the cradle of the artist’s inspiration through all his life”, said Kirova. The permanent exhibition will preserve and display the talent of DiKiro for the generations of art lovers, and will serve as a venue and inspiration for Bulgaria’s young talents, the late master’s widow commented.
